Adrenal disorders
Adrenal disorders are included in the practice’s existing scope. Explain what led to the enquiry and any diagnosis, investigation or treatment already in place.
Understanding adrenal hormones
The adrenal glands sit above the kidneys and make hormones involved in functions such as stress response, blood pressure and salt balance. Adrenal insufficiency is one example of an adrenal condition: the glands produce too little of certain hormones.
An individual clinical history
Different adrenal concerns require different assessments. Bring the reports requested by the practice and describe any existing treatment plan. A symptom list cannot distinguish the cause, and this page does not provide instructions for changing prescribed steroid or hormone medication.
Questions for specialist review
Ask which findings need explanation, what further investigation may be appropriate and how care will be coordinated. If you already have a diagnosed condition, discuss follow-up and questions about your existing plan with the treating clinician.
Questions about this topic
Is this page a guide to changing adrenal medication?
No. Medication and illness-management decisions need your treating clinician and your individual care plan.
This is general information to support a clinical conversation, not a diagnosis or an individual treatment plan.
